Pix Politics: Have banks contributed to a dysfunctional housing market?
The documentary Oeconomia argues that the prevailing economic theories are pushing the world into an insoluble economic and ecological crisis with its imperative of eternal growth. Are there alternative economic theories that can save us?
What is the role of banks in rising housing prices? How are the banks actually operating? Are there any alternatives to the prevailing economic theories? And what can be done to ensure more social housing policies?
Joining the conversation is Marie Storli, head of the Norwegian branch of Rethinking Economics, a network aimed at renewing and enriching the economics profession, and Bent Sofus Tranøy, political scientist and professor at The Inland Business School. The conversation is led by Alf Jørgen Schnell, MA in Human Geography and connected to the Norwegian critical urban network 'Kritisk bynettverk'.
The Pix Politics program is supported by the Fritt Ord Foundation.
