Mental Overdrive, Olle Abstract, Erot, Bjørn Torske, Röyksopp, Annie, Biosphere… Norway has fostered many outstanding electronica and dance artists over the years, and making a comprehensive list would be a time-consuming task. It all started as Tromsø and Bergen witnessed a unique creative outburst among groups of young musicians from the 1990s, and developed into a club music scene that has excited people all over the world. So how did that happen? Northern Disco Lights is an attempt to answer that question. Made by British filmmakers who approach the phenomenon from an outside perspective, it interviews all the most important contributors, from the early days in Tromsø, through the emergence of Tellé Records in Bergen to today's scene. Including never-before-seen archival footage and live recordings, the film manages to capture a modern Norwegian musical history in only 75 minutes. CF
