Nordic Council Film Prize // Sweden: Crossing
The trans woman Tekla ran away from her family in Georgia to Istanbul – and disappeared. Now her aunt, the retired teacher Lea, has decided to find her. Accompanying her is the young neighbor boy Achi, who claims to have Tekla's address and can help with the search.
Crossing is an energetic and moving drama filled with humor and warmth – and characters you will grow fond of. It starts as a story about two people from different generations who reluctantly get to know each other. But through various encounters, the film becomes a rich portrayal of street life in today's Istanbul – where human destinies constantly intersect, and small acts of kindness can have a significant impact.
The film is Sweden's nominated film for the Nordic Council Film Prize.
