Alma Pöysti

The Helsinki-born actress Alma Pöysti graduated in 2007 from the Theatre Academy at the University of Helsinki with a master's degree in Arts. Pöysti has since garnered broad experience on the most prestigious theatre stages in Scandinavia and in front of the camera. Her breakthrough cinematic role was in 2020 when she played the lead in the feature film Tove (dir by Zaida Bergroth), for which she was awarded Best Actress at the Finnish Film Awards (Jussi gala). She has appeared in various Scandinavian TV and film productions, including the tv series Helsinki Crimes, Swedish TV series Blackwater, and the feature film Four Little Adults (directed by Selma Vilhunen), for which she won the Best Actress award at the Gothenburg Film Festival 2023Pöysti’s most recent productions include lead roles in the Netflix feature film A Day and a Half (directed by Fares Fares) and Cannes Film Festival Prix du Jury 2023 winner Fallen Leaves (directed by Aki Kaurismäki), for which she received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical. Additionally, Pöysti will play the female lead in director Pirjo Honkasalo’s upcoming film Orenda. Pöysti will also be seen in Vladimir Fontenay’s feature film Sukkuwan Island and Rörelser, directed by Jon Blåhed.
